Abu Dhabi T20 Community Cup launches strategic vision for cricket

A total of 28 teams took part in the competition which launched the community restructuring of cricket in Abu Dhabi, launched at the end of 2021. The strategic vision for cricket in the capital of the United Arab Emirates is based on a renewed commitment to the sport at its grassroots level Abu Dhabi Cricket Council and Abu Dhabi Sports Council.

In addition to launching the flagship tournament, the ADSC also unveiled four new Community Ovals in Abu Dhabi Cricket which are specially designed for community use.

Aref Hamad Al Awani, ADSC General Secretary, said: “It is fantastic to see community cricket taking center stage again in Abu Dhabi. The next step in our evolution for the sport in the emirate is to prioritize community cricket, which is why the Abu Dhabi Cricket Council and the Abu Dhabi Sports Council have committed to creating four dedicated community ovals.

“Abu Dhabi’s strategic development of a world-class sports infrastructure aims to provide our junior and community players with one of the best cricket offerings in the world. The development path from junior and community cricket to the Abu Dhabi team programs is in full swing and growing.

ADCC CEO Matt Boucher hopes the success of this first tournament on the calendar will provide opportunities that will benefit UAE cricket at all levels.

Boucher said: “One of our main priorities from 2022 is to improve our ability to run competitive – and uninterrupted – junior and senior cricket tournaments at Abu Dhabi Cricket, while we run international events. Critical to this vision is the Abu Dhabi Sports Council’s recent commitment to infrastructure, now allowing us to operate on seven dedicated first-class cricket surfaces simultaneously.

“Our new vision began with the Abu Dhabi T20 Community Cup and now extends to the rest of our seven-tournament Community season, with the path opened up for our community to realize their dreams through our Team Representative program. from Abu Dhabi competing in T10, T20 and over 50 cricket and from there we hope to integrate them into the UAE national team.

Next up on the community calendar is the eight-team Abu Dhabi T10 Super Cup, which features a women’s tournament for the first time, while the Nations Cup, League of Schools, Abu Dhabi Ramadan Rumble and Super 60 Sixes are still to come. come before. the end of the season.
