Have you ever wanted to take your favorite sport to the next level, but didn’t know how to get there?

A community initiative, starting this Saturday, February 12, aims to do just that and more across five different sports.

The free community program – “Khali Khelo: Let’s Play” – invites children aged 5 to 18 to try out different sports and receive free coaching from experts.

Event coordinator Kartik Reddy of New Zealand Middlemore Sangam Inc said for the first session they were focusing on free training for football, rugby, netball, boxing and cricket indoors.

Reddy said the program will start at 9am on Saturday with a football clinic at Walter Massey Park in Mangere.

“NZ Middlemore Sangam Inc would like to invite members of our community to participate in our 12 week community sports initiative.

“We have hired qualified coaches and elite athletes to deliver these programs and it will cost participants absolutely nothing.”
