NBC10 Boston: First of all, congratulations on this silver medal this summer. You are now on a victory tour with your teammates. What is the âGold Over America Tourâ and what makes it different from other gymnastics shows?
Jordan Chiles: The tour is just about being inspired throughout the tour. We just want you to pick up this inspiring piece that each of us gives you. We just want you to take this little piece of gold and take it with you. It’s like a pop gig basically, so you mix your inner Beyonce with gymnastics.
We have the American gymnasts, the Olympic team; Me, Jade [Carey] Grace [McCallum], MyKayla [Skinner], and [Simone] Bilès. Internationally, we have Ellie Black and Melanié Johanna de Jesus [dos Santos].
Biles spoke to TODAY and mentioned that she was “always afraid” of doing gymnastics. Did she talk to the team about it?
Chiles: Outside of the gym, we really don’t talk about gymnastics like that. I think we’re just trying to focus on our day-to-day things and not really on what we’re doing. Gymnastics is our life fundamentally, so when we have this free time we try not to think about it.
I support her 100%. Whatever she does, and whatever she feels, how she feels, I will give her my full attention and just hope I can give her some advice if I need it.
What is your musical rotation at the moment?
Chiles: I have new people on my playlist. I have Jhené Aiko, Summer Walker, HER, Khalid, Sam Smith, Kehlani. One of my favorite songs is Wild side by Normani with Cardi B. He was a banger so I repeat that all the time.
Paris 2024. Will we see Jordan Chiles?
Chilis: I don’t know. It’s up there. I’m not going to give a sure answer, but it’s up there. I’m just taking it day by day, month by month, just to see how my body is holding up and mentally if I can go on for another three years.
The Gold Over America Tour with Simone Biles will be in Boston on November 7, 2021 at 7 p.m.
