In April 2022, Kraftwerk published its Remixes album-compilation. The compilation showcases Kraftwerk’s influence on club and DJ culture, techno and all forms of electronic dance music. With 19 official remixes, it brings together Kraftwerk’s own remixes alongside contributions from some of the world’s biggest DJs and producers, including François Kervorkian, William Orbit, Étienne de Crécy, Orbital, Underground Resistance, DJ Rolando and Hot Chip. The remixes are taken from various Kraftwerk music from 1991 to 2021.
Kraftwerk was started in 1970 by Ralf Hütter and Florian Schneider as a multimedia project. They set up their Kling Klang studio in Düsseldorf, Germany, where they engineered and produced all of Kraftwerk’s albums. By the mid-1970s, Kraftwerk had gained international recognition for their groundbreaking electronic soundscapes and musical experimentation with robotics and other technological innovations. With their visions of the future, Kraftwerk created the soundtrack of the digital age. Using innovative techniques, synthetic vocals and computerized beats, their compositions have had major international influence in a wide range of musical genres: from electro to hip-hop, techno to synth-pop, and beyond. of the.
In their live performances, Kraftwerk – Ralf Hütter, Henning Schmitz, Fritz Hilpert and Falk Grieffenhagen – express their belief in the contributions of man and machine. In recent years, beginning with the 2012 retrospective of their catalog at the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) in New York, Kraftwerk has returned to its origins within the Düsseldorf art scene of the late 1960s. in 3D at MoMA was followed by other presentations at the Tate Modern Turbine Hall in London, the Akasaka Blitz in Tokyo, the Sydney Opera House, the Walt Disney Concert Hall in Los Angeles, the Louis Vuitton Foundation in Paris, at the Neue Nationalgalerie in Berlin and the Guggenheim Museum in Bilbao. In 2014, Hütter and his former partner received the Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award. The band celebrated their 50th anniversary in 2020, and in 2021 Kraftwerk was recognized for their groundbreaking work with their induction into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.
