Poupelle from Chimney Town is coming to Blu-ray

Following its theatrical release and having been available to own digitally, Poupelle of Chimney Town is coming to Blu-ray.

The Blu-ray/DVD combo pack includes both English audio and Japanese audio with English subtitles. Fans who order via the Shout! The factory website can receive an exclusive poster while supplies last. The film was produced at the famous STUDIO4ºC in Tokyo, Japan.

The film played at several film festivals before its theatrical release in December, including the Annecy International Animation Film Festival. Throughout its run it has also earned a number of nominations for the following:

  • Japan Academy Film Prize for Outstanding Animation of the Year
  • Nomination for the Annecy Cristal Award for Best Feature Film
  • ANNIE Award Nomination for Best Music – Feature Film
  • Fantasia’s Satoshi Kon Award Nomination for Best Animated Feature

Synopsis

Populated from Chimney Town is the story of young Lubicchi living among the thick smoke of the chimneys of his isolated town, longing to see the “stars” – to know the truth – that his father always told him about. One Halloween night, he meets Populated, a man made of trash, and together they gaze up at the sky as their adventure begins. Spectacularly beautiful, filled with inspiring performances and splendid music and sound effects, Populated from Chimney Town brings laughter, tears and joy.
