Screamfeeder to headline Brisbane edition of Reclink Community Cup 2022

Organizers of the Reclink Community Cup – an annual AFL game held to raise money for its titular non-profit organization – have announced the roster of artists for this year’s Brisbane edition, headlined by displays alternative rockers Screamfeeder.

This year’s match will be played on Sunday July 31 and will take place at the Everton Wolves JAFC ground at Enoggera Memorial Park – find tickets here.

As always, two specially formed football teams – the Rocking Horses (named after the iconic Queen Street record store) and the Brisbane Lines – will compete for charity. The latter group is historically made up of radio hosts (notably those from 4ZZZ) and media personalities, while the former is made up of local musicians.

Among those recruited for this year’s Rocking Horses roster are members of The Church, WAAX, Dead Letter Circus, Birds Of Tokyo and Sweater Curse. In addition to Screamfeeder, the event’s live music program will feature Bugs and Platonic Sex.

Every penny raised at the event will be donated to Reclink, a non-profit organization that, through its website“provides evidence-based sport and arts programs to disadvantaged Australians to create socially inclusive and life-changing opportunities”.

In a statement shared with The music, CEO Dave Wells said: “Every day across Australia, the incredible Reclink team organizes community sport and recreation programs for marginalized and disconnected people. The Reclink program has a proven track record – improving physical health, mental health and social inclusion for members of our community who need it most.

Last May, it was announced that the official theme for the 2022 Reclink Community Cup – which is also held annually in Melbourne, Sydney, Adelaide, Hobart, Canberra and Fremantle – would be based on Archie Roach’s 2016 song “Let’s Love Rule”.

In his own statement, legendary singer, songwriter and activist Gunditjmara/Bundjalung said the song is about “love being the primary feeling in your life, the driving force that inspires you every day to do what you do “.

Emboldening his support for his connection to the Reclink Community Cup, he continued, “Community is also a tangible expression of love and connection. What better way to express love than to get together, play football and listen to great Aussie music? »
