The All Blacks will face Japan in Tokyo on the 2022 Northern Tour » allblacks.com

The All Blacks will take on Japan at the National Stadium in Tokyo on Saturday, October 29 for the new Lipovitan-D Challenge Cup 2022.

Announced today by the Japan Rugby Football Union (JRFU) and sponsored by Taisho Pharmaceutical, the test will precede the All Blacks Northern Tour which will include games against Wales, Scotland and England in November.

It will be the seventh time the All Blacks have faced Japan and the first test between the two countries since meeting in Tokyo in 2018.

New Zealand Rugby (NZR) CEO Mark Robinson said:

“Rugby in Japan has grown in prominence in recent years and this has been reflected in the national team’s results, so the All Blacks will be expecting a tough test in Tokyo. We look forward to strengthening our relationship with Japan. Rugby and our partner Taisho Pharmaceutical in October Taisho’s support for this game has been essential and I’m sure it will be a great opportunity to see both teams play at the National Stadium.

Brave Blossoms head coach Jamie Joseph said:

“Today’s announcement is great news that will be welcomed by our fans in Japan and around the world. We look forward to welcoming the All Blacks to Tokyo and playing in front of our home fans. We are delighted to face New Zealand at home and then England and France on our European tour, three teams who will be in contention to lift the Webb Ellis Cup next year in Paris. This is the level of competition against which we have to test ourselves, to strengthen our team before the World Cup next year.

Further details on the match, including kick-off time, will be announced in due course.
