Paralympic medalist Jack Hunter-Spivey
Paralympic medalist Jack Hunter-Spivey is part of an eight-man British squad that will take part in the Egypt Para Open in Ismailia, which takes place from March 30 to April 2.
Hunter-Spivey, who won his first major championship medal last year when he clinched bronze in the class five men’s singles in Tokyo, warmed up for his first international tournament since then beating Dan Bullen during the Para Showcase Class 3-5 Final at the English National Championships on Sunday.
He is now looking to establish himself as one of the best players in the world in his category.
“I’m really looking forward to going to Egypt,” he said. “I’m the number one seed, so I have to go out and prove a point. It was a good result in Tokyo but I can definitely aim for that gold medal now that I have confidence in what I can do.
I’m looking to get into the top four or five of the Paris-ready standings and the world is my oyster if I put my head down.
I was watching the live stream and it was fantastic,” Hunter-Spivey said. “We’ve got the ball rolling now for the year as a team and we’re all one big family, so hopefully we can continue the good results.”
